Feb 13 saw the A team finally manage to win their 2nd match of the season and at the same time go a long way to ensuring they are not relegated from the top division. Visitors Northenden will now require a miracle to get away from the foot of the table. On the night Tony won a good point on top board adding to wins by Denzil and Joachim. Ant who stood in late for Carl (who mysteriously decided he'd prefer to play away at Northenden for the second time this season!) recorded an excellent point on board 3. The Secretary is desperate for a win and turned a draw offer as he was a (useless) pawn up and once again blundered at 10:20pm.....

Meanwhile it was nice to see Daniel back playing in the Pomeroy Cup and he inflicted defeat on Tom to really open things up. Who will win - it's really up for grabs!

The B team played their penultimate league game at home against Urmston. The visitors brought a couple of strong players at the top and eventually ran out 3 - 2 winners. A special mention to Tom who won his first ever league game, finishing superbly against his experienced opponent. Jake also won well.

In the club championship, Joachim and John-Paul fought out a long draw so the situation at the top remains unresolved.

Meanwhile, Geoff played Marcus in the first games of the quickplay competition. Denzil has added his name to the entry so a good competition is expected!

The secretary played his final championship game of the season losing a long game to Carl who with just 1 game to play is in a good position. It is to be hoped that those who have only played 2 or 3 of their 8 games now get some games played in order to make this years competition another success!

Tom and Ant drew their Pomeroy Cup encounter so we now have 3 players on 5 points.
