Carl Goes Top

With another win as black, this time against Denzil, Carl went to the top of the table on Monday. Tony and Geoff are many time winners of this competition in the past but this year's game between them seems insignificant following their poor starts. Never-the-less Tony's win pushes him towards mid-table!

In the Pomeroy Cup, Jake and Ant played out a draw. Meanwhile withdrawals have regrettably limited the contenders and the playing routine will have to be adjusted! The 2 games played by Paul and Tony will be omitted from the league table.

Carl and Jake Take Advantage

with just a single game in both the Club Championship and Pomeroy Cups, Carl, by defeating current champion Tony, and Jake by overcoming newcomer Dan, enhanced their point totals. It's early days but Tony looks out of contention this year.

More Macc Misery

Macclesfield's dismal start to the season continued last night when they were beaten by Crewe B despite a quick point from skipper Phil Simon Layhe has started the season brilliantly for Crewe and equalised the scores. Despite an edge throughout the endgame Geoff carelessly allowed the ending to come down to opposite coloured bishops and the extra pawn was no good. With the scores level everything came down to Joachim - his opponent played the latter stages very well indeed......
